[Events] New Orleans Open Source Hackathon

Hi,

My name is Bryan Joseph and I'm organizing an open source hackathon here in
New Orleans. It's scheduled to take place from 7pm Friday, May 9th to 7pm
Saturday, May 10th. The goal is to get participants to contribute to their
favorite existing open source project for 24 hours with the hopes that at
least some participants will continue to contribute to projects after the
hackathon ends.

The hackathon is points-based on closed issues by participants within the
24 hours. Originally, the goal was to let participants work on any project
they wanted, but there has been some concerns about pull requests not being
accepted in a timely manner. So now I'm asking for open source project
owners to contact me if they would like their project to be included in the
hackathon with the promise that they will be available to accept pull
requests during the hackathon. Participants would work on those projects
that have agreed to participate. I'm asking those interested in
participating to spread the word and get their favorite open source
project's owners to contact me.

I really like what the OpenHatch community is doing and OpenHatch was the
first organization I thought of reaching out to about this event. I would
love for OpenHatch to be involved with the event. I would also love to get
any advice, help with finding willing open source projects, and any help on
getting sponsors for the event. I really want to make this event a success
and I'm hoping the format will catch on and others will follow.

That is the gist of things. You can get more details at the website,
http://opensourcenola.org.

Thanks,
Bryan Joseph
