In my experience organizing events for undergrads, where possible,
another effective strategy is:
* Ask the prof for a few min
* Be the one to announce the event
* Do the announcement 2 min before the class would otherwise end, and
stand outside the classroom with flyers or other items people can take
so they can hopefully remember the idea of going
That's just one thought.
To respond to your actual question, I think your suggested announcement is fine!
