The long & short of it is that everything looks great. The only action
items needed are:
Shauna: provide slightly better directions on website/emails; check if any
staff will need mac adapter and if so request from Alice/Ali; print signs
Alice/Ali: make sure we have enough power strips (six seems reasonable)
*Will the room fit the number of attendees + staff who may attend? (For our
events, that means it needs to fit at least 30 people.):* Yes, at least 60
people.
*Will the room be accessible during the event? Do you need identification
to enter the building?: * Yes - right by main entrance to the building,
doors do not lock.
*Is there easily accessible wifi for both attendees and staff?:*
NUWave-guest for non-NEU students.
*Is there equipment for projecting during presentations and demos?: *Yes.
The projector has VGA. (If we need Mac adapter, we might need to provide.)
*What is the power situation like? Should we bring power strips?:* NEU
will provide power strips.
*How do you access the wifi? *Non-NEU students should use NUWave-Guest.
*What network restrictions seem to be in place? (Check for both attendees
and staff, if they have have separate networks, such as EDU and EDU-Guest.)
*
*Does SSH work? *YES
*Does IRC work? * YES
*Does doing a git clone over the git:// protocol work?* YES
*Do websites over http:// work?* YES
*Do webites over https:// work? *YES
*What kind of bandwidth do the networks seem to give? (A good way to find
out is to just use a normal speed testing site like*
*http://www.speedtest.net/ .)* Download - 92.56 mbps, Upload - 75.17 mbs
*Where will we set up food? *Most probably in the room, if someone kicks
it out there is a big space (with no tables though) just outside.
*Where are nearby bathrooms and water fountains, if they exist? *Down the
hall, not too far. (Also, vending machines.)
*What restrictions on movement around the area will be in place? (e.g.,
will people have to be let in a locked door by a student at some point?) *The
door will likely not be locked, but if it is we can prop it open.
