Well FWIW I personally still will use Vim (now with
https://dev.launchpad.net/UltimateVimPythonSetup ^_^ ), mainly because I
do all development in shell on a VM. But I'm happy to help get others
tools that they feel will aid in their contribution.

As for the use of free software in OpenHatch, I feel that for personal
development, the choice is completely up to the individual developer. I
think your concern has more relevance for tools and programs that
OpenHatch as a whole uses (such as the web server, the bug tracker, the
frameworks like Twisted). Of course, I have no issue with you promoting
free software tools - I do as well =)
