I lead workshops, and I also just kicked up http://newcoder.io . Getting a lot of great feedback on the tutorials written, but it's definitely still a WIP with a lot of rough areas.
I gave a talk on how we should learn to code - my PoV is that we don't know how to learn how to code :) but we should give learning through projects (and frustration!) a try.
