Hi PDX workshop staff,

It was a pleasure visiting you all a few months ago for the first Portland
workshop. It would be great to see you again...on stage at PyCon 2013!

PyCon is community-organized, diverse, happy, supportive, and an all-around
awesome experience. Beyond the talks and tutorials, there are project
sprint days, a job fair, a 5K, free programming for kids, and more:
https://us.pycon.org/2013/. There is also a robust financial aid program,
including aid specifically for women through PyLadies.

The call for proposals is open until the end of the month, and the event is
in March in Santa Clara, CA:

There are 3 types of presentations: talks, tutorials, and posters.

* Talks are either 30 or 45 minutes. Last year's talks:
https://us.pycon.org/2012/schedule/

* Tutorials are 3 hours, and presenters get paid $1500. Last year's
tutorials: https://us.pycon.org/2012/schedule/tutorials/

* Posters are set up in a big poster hall, and attendees walk through at
their leisure. They are much less work than talks or tutorials. Last year's
posters: https://us.pycon.org/2012/schedule/lists/posters/

I'd be happy to help brainstorm on topics or review proposals.

I want to see more awesome workshop people giving talks. Please consider
submitting something!

Regards,
-Jessica
