Hi Zuoming,
As you've likely noticed, I haven't had time over the last couple of days
to give you a call and get your feedback about the event. Would you mind
answering questions via email?
Feel free to answer with as much or as little as you like, and feel free to
go on tangents - we're interested in any kind of feedback you can give us.
:) Criticism and negative feedback are especially welcome - please don't
hesitate to say something for fear of offending me. This is only our
second remotely-run event so I'm sure there are tons of ways we could
improve.
Kate, Shane, if you can answer the questions below as well, that would be
wonderful.
*Questions*
- How did you feel about the materials and resources we provided? Were
they too little, or too much? Was there anything especially helpful or
especially unhelpful? This includes publicity materials, logistical
checklists, templates, etc in addition to curriculum guides and the
curriculum itself.
- In planning and running the event, did you do anything differently from
what we recommended? How did that turn out? If you've improved our event,
we'd love to merge those changes back. :)
- Did the event planning process, and the event itself, turn out as you
imagined it would when you first agreed to help organize? If not, please
talk a bit about where the reality differed from your expectations.
- Did you feel like you were able to communicate effectively with me
(Shauna)? Would you have appreciated more communication (regular phone
meetings/hangouts, for instance), or less, or did it seem about right?
- Overall, how would you describe the experience of organizing and running
an Open Source Comes to Campus event? Would you be interested in running
it again, or a similar event, sometime in the next couple of years? If you
are graduating, feel free to answer that hypothetically. :)
Thank you!
- Shauna
