Yeah, unfortunately we can't connect to any irc servers at all using
the wifi --including freenode. I think that access is blocked by the
University's firewall.

I have set up openVPN my laptop + Linode instance, so I would be able
to use that to at least demonstrate IRC that way as part of a
communication tools portion.  I can set up the same VPN connection on a
spare laptop, too, so that would give people at least a chance to try
IRC & the various IRC tools if they wanted to.



I wonder if the web-irc tools (like freenode's web chat) are also
blocked. Can anyone confirm this?
