Hi there, dear reader of OpenHatch's campus-announce list!
Two quick announcements about summer internship opportunities where you
learn, hands-on, what it means to participate in open source communities
while also getting paid to do it.
The deadlines for these are extremely close, so unfortunately you probably
won't be able to make use of these opportunities quite yet unless you've
already begun preparing, unless you dive-in practically immediately. If
you have, though, and you want some help with something related to that,
feel quite free to ping us: hello at openhatch.org
Also, keep reading to learn about how these programs repeat (yearly,
quarterly, etc.).
Both have the same deadline: April 6 (quite soon)
Number one: Google Summer of Code
"Google Summer of Code is a global program that offers students stipends
to write code for open source projects. We have worked with the open
source community to identify and fund exciting projects for the upcoming
summer."
More info: http://www.google-melange.com/gsoc/homepage/google/gsoc2012
Number two: Outreach Program for Women
"To engage more women with the project, GNOME is also organizing Outreach
Program for Women internships. The internships have the same structure,
program dates, and stipend amount as Google Summer of Code, however they
are open to any women who are available for a full-time internship (not
just students), and are not limited to coding projects. Outreach Program
for Women internships also include graphic design, documentation, and
marketing projects. As with Google Summer of Code, the applicants need to
get in touch with individual GNOME projects ahead of time to decide which
project they are interested in working on and make a small contribution to
the project."

GSoC runs basically every year, and the Outreach Program for Women runs
approximately once a quarter, so within a few months, there will be a new
application deadline for that.
Keep those in mind, and if you have questions, drop us a line!
